Performing a complete reset via the setup menus may work, and since
you just got the thing isn't that drastic a measure. However, according
to TiVo:

What if I Forget My Parental Controls Password?
In order to protect your privacy and your control over this feature,
you will need to call Customer Support to reset your password.

Go to www.tivo.com and navigate the customer support. You then
should be able to find links for downloading manuals in .PDF format.
