I checked the contact with power, doesn't seem to be touching.

I'm using Monster cables, not sure if that helps/makes a difference.

When a DVD movie goes to a black screen, there's still a slow, rolling
bar--should the black be pure black?

AUGH...

Thanks to all for advice.

There shouldn't be any question. It is or it isn't.
If you have a spaghetti junction of cables back there,
you need to get in and disconnect the video cable
at one end and make absolutely sure that it isn't touching
a power cable. That's the only way to confirm or refute
that interference from a power cable is causing the problem.

If they are well shielded, it doesn't matter what the brand name is.

Turn down the contrast on the TV. Any difference?
