I am building a new house and need advice re: speaker wiring. The builder
has agreed to install wiring in the family room and have
the ends come out behind where the entertainment center will be. Since I
have Bose Acoustimass speakers - AM6(5 cubes, 1 sw), I am not sure what to do
about the cable. As you may know it uses custom wiring that goes from each
cube thru the SW and then from the SW to the receiver. The wires coming out
of the SW are in one wide ribbon that you separate as you split each speaker
location off. Finally, each cable has a special connector that goes into
the cube.
If they do custom wiring for me they will use standard speaker wire. In my
mind I cannot think of any way to do this other than having to cut the
custom cable shortly after it comes out of the SW and connect it to the
standard wire for the journey thru the walls. Where each hole in the wall
is, I would then cut a 2-3 ft from the speaker so that the custom cable goes
to the speaker but connects to the standard cable that runs thru the wall.
Is this correct? Am I missing anything?
THANKS!
