Let me start by saying I am not an audio/videophile.

I am looking for a small (slim) av reciver that will at a minimum support
a/b speakers and ideally would integrate a 7 way speaker selector.

I'm in the US, but recently I was looking at the UK "What Hifi?"
magazine on a local newsstand. The magazine showed several slim AV
receivers; I think one was a Sony, and the others might have been
Panasonic or Pioneer. Anyway, if you can find the magazine locally,
you might take a look at that, or look for a web site for the
magazine. Then you could look for those models on maker's web sites.

As for the "7 way speaker selector," that would be a separate
accessory that might be available from Adcom, Niles, Radio Shack,
Sima, or others. I'm assuming you want this selector for running 7
sets of stereo pairs of speakers, not 7 sets of Dolby 5.1 speakers.
The following might be worth a look (all dot coms):

If you're considering running 7 sets of speakers simultaneously, like
in a restaurant, store, offices, or some place where you want speakers
in many rooms operating simultaneously, you might want to look in you
Yellow Pages for businesses that specialize in those sort of
installations. Home audio gear can be made to operate in the above
way, but it's not really designed to support something like 7 sets of
speakers.

If you plan to operate all the speakers simultaneously, make sure to
get a selector with a feature to compensate for possible impedance
problems.

Or if you want to go narrow:
