Okay... a year ago, I bought an Ultimate TV. It really spoiled me. The
only problem was it was about as reliable as a Yugo. I'd have it a
month... it'd die... a month would pass as it was serviced, I get it for
another month, suddenly no audio! Back for another month in service.
When I got it back the third time, I opened it up, put a fan in it.
Lasted three months... or untill I decided that the fan wasn't helping
and removed it. WHOOPS... I smashed it too bits.
Well that wsa back in Febuary. After that, my DTV account was 'canceled'
(though I still had $45.00 in credit in that account, and left there
since I knew I would be returning).
Well, living in Tucson, we were getting local stations! "YEAH!" I
thought! Since I had a spare dish, and recently repaired a left-for-dead
receiver, this would be perfect for the Cabin on Mt. Lemmon. This, was
of course before a few days before the fire errupted...
The day after the fire broke out, I decided that I should forget the
Cabin for the time being, and get a nice DirecTivo receiver. Since I had
the everything except for the receiver pretty much, I ordered a Hughes
HDVR2 online. Well, when it never came... why? Because they forgot to
put the Apt# on the delivery address. Fortuntatly, I discovered this in
time, went down to the UPS shipping facility and picked it up.
I got home, opened the box up (which was in awfully bad shape, and began
hooking it up. Everything was going great, till I had to plug the power
cord in. There was no power cord. The Access card was also missing. I
couldn't beleive this. The power cord and access card, two VERY vital
components were MISSING! I called up the business from which I ordered
it from; they told me to call DTV. DTV told me to call the company which
I ordered it. ARGHS!!! Well, the retailer, after calling DTV themselves,
agreed to send a new Access card and cable. Only problem was I was
possibly going to be out of town when it arrived (I leave Tuesday).
Well, I called DTV, convinced them to send me a new card free of charge.
It should (better) come Friday. I also discovered that the PSX powercord
fit perfectly. Then I called the reatiler to tell them... which turned
out to be a good thing because they were unable to find a spare power
cable, and were going to have UPS come and pick my unit up. I told them
that I had managed to solve the problem, and that I'd just keep the
original unit.
Now... I just have to wait... and PRAY that I get that card by Friday.
The End....
