You can get full answers to both of these questions at
www.weaknees.com. The short version is that the power supply problem
has to do with starting both drives of a two-drive upgraded system at
the same time. Doing so stresses the Series 2 power supply, which
wasn't designed to handle the load. Weaknees has a cheap, clever
gimmick that delays the spinup of the second drive for seven seconds,
which solves the problem. Series 1 units don't have this problem.
That's why I said while I'd done my own Series 1 upgrade, I'd go to
Weaknees if I had a Series 2 (for parts, anyway).
There's no reason why you can't use a 160 GB drive, which will get you
the max 137 GB of storage TiVo can use.
