Not really. I just have a Hotmail account for newsgroups, and SpamKiller
deletes anything going to my Hotmail account.

I wasn't talking about receiving spam in my inbox, I get that anyway, but
getting spam in the newsgroup really sucks and could render it useless in no
time.

I assume you are talking about this group (avpt) in particular? Other
posters seemed to have missed that part. Certainly other groups are rife
with spam. We are lucky that our group seems to have gone unnoticed so far.
Particularly since its an "alt" group, which seems to be a more common
target.

Part of the reason that this seems to be working is that people generally
don't crosspost. So the bots have not picked up this group in their scanning
yet.

Yes, I would agree that some groups have been made useless because the real
messages are buried under the volume of spam. Which is one of the theories
behind the use of the word "spam" comes from (bloody Vikings :-) )

Yes I meant this group. I don't see why a bot would need to scan anything
else then the list of newsgroups and simply start sending spam like crazy.

That's what was happening - the spam that hit this group was also
sent, at the same time, to almost every public newsgroup I read.
