View Full Version : How to get new dial in numbers?

Hi,
I am very new to Tivo. I just had my HDVR2 installed last week. I went
through the setup and chose my dial in number. I then received a message
stating that were new call in numbers. So I went through the phone options
again but I only have the same numbers to choose from. What's up? How come
new numbers do not show? I'm not making an actual toll call however I do
have to change my calling plan to get the best price to call the number
listed. I was assuming since I'm in Tribune's home town, I actually work in
the same building, I'd have no problem getting a true local number.
Thanks,
Jeff Guay

There were probably new dialin numbers, but not in your area - or the
list was 'updated' but really has the same numbers.

I've had the same kind of message a few times since I started with
TiVo.

You can verify the available local numbers by checking at this site:
http://global.mci.com/us/enterprise/internet/pops/

The TiVo server dialup numbers are provided by MCI which has no relationship
with Tribune Media Service.

Your Hughes HDVR2 will dial DirecTV using a 1-800 number to upload PPV purchases.

They probably had the list updated when you made your selection. Just a
timing thing.

That's because they all outsource their PoPs.
