ESPN HD strech. by
If you really want ESPN to send things correclty then you should make sure that they not only fix the the ratio to the correct one (4:3) for 4:3 content but also don't send the image as HD at all when its DTV and not HD. Cuz it screws up DTVs when you send DTV content as HD. The image should be...

Broadcast flag - a professional analysis by
A few big-picture thinkers with some foresight (Jamie Love at the Consumer Project on Technology) recognize that this is roughly the DMCA-ization of over the air digital broadcast, and are struggling against similar efforts right now as they are pushed at WIPO and other international treaty...

At&t 200c remote W/ Panasonic TV by
I Just purchased a Panasonic CT-34WX52 and ordered Comcast Digital cable package. I am having an issue with the At&t 200c remote when controlling the TV and was wondering if anyone else has seen this. The problem is that the TV functions on the cable remote do not work very well. I can press...

Strange ring-like pattern on Sharp 37" TV by
I just got a brand new Sharp LC-37HV4U TV. Everything looked good until I noticed a ring-like pattern (it looks more like than a perfect ring) on the screen. It's close to the edges and, as far as its color, looks like this: and stripes are lighter than the rest of the screen and there...

Why is comcast sending NON-HD material at 1080i? by
Comcast seems to be sending non HDTV material at 1080i. This makes no sense since there will be no increase in image quality. The main problem is that 4:3 HDTVs which are disigned to show a larger picture for non HD 4:3 content are not able to because the content is being sent as if it were HDTV...

Cheapo TV's: deep thoughts by
First of all, to everyone who provided constructive comments about buying from big-box, mass market, and/or small independent retailers: thank you. Your advice is well-reasoned and very welcome. Secondly, you guys need to dial it back! You sound like a bunch of testosterone-poisoned grunts instead...

comcast HDTV question by
I know fiber is one way to upgrade for digital services but I don't know if it is the only way. One way or another they might be saying that in your case if they are going to get more bandwidth to you the only way they are going to be able to is when they switch to fiber. As far as what content is...

Digital TV's? by
Digital TV is a standard of television. They ensure a certain level of quality for the image. A digital TV must be able to display a progressive image by sequentially scanning the picture without skipping any lines. HDTVs are a type of digital TV that has a higher picture quality than a standard...

Comcast ESPNHD by
I saw the new added channel ESPN HD, but thus far all the content I have seen is just low def tv sent at 1080i and a 4:3 image squished vertically in order to fit into a 16:9 shape without having any unused area of the 16:9 screen. The image source is not only low quality but, warped, originally...

Help ! component Video cables by
You either plugged the cables in the wrong order or you have your tv component input set to accept RGB instead of color difference (Y/Cb/Cr) AKA (YUV) like DVD players output.

Recommend a component auto switch box by
There was the auto switchbox that was mentioned in a earlier post (http://www.zektor.com/hds4/index.htm) = $300 The one I've always known about seems to go for less (http://www.audioauthority.com/aacconsumers/1154c.html) = $200 I believe this compnay has a high industry reputation. If you don't...

Computer video with 480p out by
If you set your resolution to 640x480 @ 60hz on your graphics card then you will be outputting a 480p image. The only difference is the connection type is a vga d-sub style plug instead of BNC or RCA. There is no conversion needed with those expensive RGB boxes unless you don't set your resolution...

Reply:Why is comcast sending NON-HD material at 1080i? by
Steve the last thing you said was correct. When comcast shows non HD on the 4 or so digital tv channels there are you will not be able to use the 4:3 part of your television just the 16:9 area even though the program is not 16:9 and not HD.
