Default "Failed while loading series."

When I check in Phone Connections, I get the above message. It also
directs me to Troubleshooting which only tells me how to troubleshoot a
bad phone line.

This is too new (started several days ago) and too consistent (occurs
whether I Make Daily Call Now, or if I just wait till my TiVo's next
automatic make-daily-call) to be a phone line problem. [Besides, the
phone line is the same one I'm using to write this post.]

I seem to be getting my shows and listings etc. OK, however. But, I
feel like this may be the tip of an iceberg--I'm hoping it's a small
iceberg, an easily-melted iceberg.

I have a Series 1 Philips 30 hour, which I've had for over 2 years.

Any clues?? Relatively painless concise solutions?

TIA!!

John

I had this occur to me recently on my Series 2 TiVo. I had to initiate the
daily call 5 times before it was successful. Even restarting in between
didn't help. Just keep trying.

It sounds like your database is corrupt. There are a few things you can do
to fix this:
1. Restart your TiVo and immediately start a daily call.

2. Go to the system reset screen and choose "Clear Program Data & To
Do List".

3. Go to the system reset screen and choose " Clear and Delete
everything".

These are listed in the order that you should try. Number 2 & 3 increasingly
delete more files from your TiVo.

Whatever you do don't call TIVO support. They wanted me to send my
unit in for repairs along with a check for $150.

Luckily I ignored them. After fixing a dialin issue they created
during my call to them I just ignored the message and so far no big
problems. I check the status occasionally and sometimes it's bad and
sometimes it's good.
