hi, I have Hughes tivo and a Phillips series 2 tivo. I want to take the
larger hard drive out of the hughes and add it to the Phillips since I'm having power connector probs w/the Hughes. Can I do this and save the programs that are saved on the Hughes somehow? thanks |

If you want to save the Hughes shows, are you ok with blowing away the Phillips shows? You might be able to get away with taking the Phillips drive out, putting the Hughes drive in, watching all the shows, and then putting the Phillips drive back in as the A drive and then adding the Hughes drive as the B drive. -- This is my .sig |

Hi Mike,
yes, totally ok with blowing away the shows on the larger hard drive, think its an 80 gig maxtor in the hughes unit and adding it to the phillips unit, how do I go about doing that? jeff Mike Hunt wrote: On 2007-01-01, Oduibne wrote: hi, I have Hughes tivo and a Phillips series 2 tivo. Then install a larger (or additional) hard drive to the one with all the shows, retaining all the recorded material. It will be quite an involved process, but the steps are all detailed he http://tivo.upgrade-instructions.com/index.php and he http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html Charlie Hoffpauir http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~charlieh/ |

In other words, is zipper just preferred because it does more for the beginner , but the end results are the same, a hacked Tivo networkable? |

You still need the PTV image, along with the LBA48 Kernal as described on the zipper page. Zipper is just a script that automates the various processes that comprise hacking and enhancing a Dtivo. But for someone like me who already has a large hard drive installed but no hacks currently on this RCA DVR80, basically PTVNET and Zipper do the same things correct? Just that zipper has more hacks due to using the Superpatch4all? Zipper is just a script that automates the various processes that comprise hacking and enhancing a Dtivo. Just that zipper has more hacks due to using the Superpatch4all? You know, I just wrote a long and wordy response that I just trashed. Bottom line? Yea, I guess I would have to say yes, that is correct. I think there are nuances, etc, but both will get you to pretty much the same place. Good luck, Harvey Zipper is just a script that automates the various processes that comprise hacking and enhancing a Dtivo. See he http://www.mastersav.com/tivo_zipper.html Harvey |
